Please consider enrolling them in the SyNAPSe Traumatic Brain Injury Trial. This is a randomized prospective study for patients with GCS between 4-8 after blunt head injury.
Patients are randomized to received a progesterone vs. a placebo infusion. There is preliminary evidence that progesterone helps to stabilize membranes after head injury, reducing secondary or ongoing injury.
If you have a patient who might meet the study criteria above, check with the trauma attending on call.
