Our very own chaplain Carol Reese presented:
SCREENING FOR TRAUMATIC STRESS AMONG SURVIVORS OF URBAN TRAUMA
307 of our patients and their families were surveyed in the trauma clinic. They were screened with the 4 question PC-PTSD SCREEN. 43% of patients and 39% of families had a positive screen, ie. at least 3 of 4 questions answer positively. Patients who continue to come to clinic over 90 days after their trauma and those who sustain GSW's had higher levels. It is important that we are alert to signs and symptoms of PTSD in our patients so that they can be referred for treatment.
Carol presented her work very well and handled all questions without a problem.
