The new Cook County Health Foundation was started as a fundraising agency to supplement the care of patients in Cook County Illinois.
Since Stroger Hospital (aka Cook County Hospital) is a public hospital, funding is always just barely enough to cover operating costs. There is always a need for additional funds to support premier services such as Trauma, Neonatal and Infectious Disease.
The Foundation held their first fundraising gala in December, with proceeds from that gala going to support the Trauma Services. Today the check was presented to the trauma staff.
Faran Bokhari, Chairman of the Trauma Department stated that these funds will help supplement services such as the outmoded trauma registry (which leads to improved quality of care), and aid in prevention efforts of the department, as well as purchasing needed equipment to help provide cutting edge patient care.
