There was a rib fixation course this morning . Interesting presentations about using the technique both acutely and for chronic pain. Data was presented that showed an advantage to early fixation in patients with multiple rib fractures, especially if displaced.
After the lectures, we participated in a hands on lab using two of the commercial systems on pig ribs.
